How have you used media conventions?
Within my magazine cover and contents page I have used several media conventions such as Route of the eye and the principal of thirds. Using Route of the eye I have ensured that the key ideas and features are placed with certain main areas so that they will be noticed, attract attention and create interest. Also I have used the Principle of Thirds so within the hotspots terminal and primary optical area the main focuses of my background image and articles are included. I have addressed my target audience with appropriate images and articles that relate to school and school life. The shot I have used is symmetrical and is a mid shot. The mode of adress I have used is informal with the language also so to create interest and also as a large percentage of the target audience are students themselves and so would relate easier to an informal mode of address. I have kept the colour scheme minimal but bright using only 3 colours and contrasting the colours to the background so they stand out and attract the eye.

What technologies have you used?
To create my magazine and for my research I have used several methods and programmes. Firstly I have used word to present the majority of my research on and have found all of my primary information using the interent. To actually create my magazine I used publisher and fireworks to design the font and create my colour scheme. Lastly I used a digital camera to take my image for the cover of my magazine.

What skills have you developed that will help you produce your main task?
Through my preliminary task I  have developed several skills that will help me create my main music magazine. Firstly I have developed my research skills as I can now identify key points and information that is needed for analysis quickly and effectively. Also I have developed my knowledge in the use of Fireworks so I can now edit colours, fonts and images quickly to give a more sophisticated look to my magazine.

Are there any skills you think you will need to develop?
I think that within my main task I will need to develop my time management skills so that each section of the task is completed on time and to a high standard.
